About
A dynamic professional responsible for overseeing and optimising a portfolio of our projects and initiatives. They play a crucial role in ensuring that projects align with organisational goals, deliver value, and are executed efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Strategy and Planning: Assist in defining and refining the IT portfolio strategy, in alignment with organisational objectives and technology trends. Support the creation and management of a comprehensive portfolio roadmap, prioritising projects based on strategic importance and resource availability.
- Portfolio Governance and Oversight: Implement and maintain portfolio management processes, including project selection, prioritisation, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress, budgets, and risks, and take corrective actions as needed to ensure successful delivery.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business units, and other stakeholders to understand their goals and ensure that projects within the portfolio meet their needs. Communicate portfolio status, progress, and risks to relevant stakeholders.
- Risk Management and Issue Resolution: Identify and mitigate project and portfolio-level risks and issues. Implement effective problem-solving and decision-making strategies to keep projects on track.
- Resource Allocation and Capacity Planning: Work closely with resource managers to allocate resources efficiently across projects within the portfolio. Monitor resource utilisation and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.
- Portfolio Performance Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess portfolio performance, including project delivery, cost management, and benefits realisation.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and suppliers, ensuring they align with the organisation's portfolio strategy.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance portfolio management processes and tools, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, or a related field. Additional certifications in project or portfolio management (e.g., PMP, PfMP) are a plus.
- 4+ years of experience in IT portfolio management, project management, or related roles.
- Familiarity with portfolio management methodologies and tools.
- Ability to analyse data, make informed decisions, and optimise portfolio performance.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at various levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership of portfolio success.
- Basic understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Familiarity with project and portfolio management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira Portfolio).
