Configure Outlook with Gmail/Google App account

MS Outlook is a personal information manager from Microsoft. It is mainly used as an email application, and also includes calendar, contact manager, note taking, task manager, journal, and web browsing.

This tutorial will teach you how to use Outlook to access your Gmail/ Google App account. Just follow the sequence of steps mentioned below.

1.  To setup Outlook for Google app you have to install Google app migration for MS Outlook on your system. Run Google app migration for MS Outlook and you will be redirected to the login page.

2. Enter the email address and password of the account that you want to use for configuring Outlook and give permissions for the app to access specific account capabilities. Click on Allow Button.

You will receive a message that says ‘Authorisation has been granted successfully. Please switch to your application.’

3. If you have the backup of your Gmail/Google App account with you (.pst file), then you can choose the option ‘Import data from an existing profile’ and upload the backup file.

To create a new outlook email profile, click on Create Profile.

4. Click on Start Microsoft Outlook button and move onto the next slide.

5. Tick the option Use my most recent migration settings. Select backup of your account from the drop down list. Choose a relevant option (Migrate all data or Migrate only new data) depending on your requirement. Click on Next.

6. In migration settings, select options you may think relevant for your account.

Then Click on Migrate option.

Migration will start and all data / only new data on Gmail account will be restored into Outlook depending on the option you have selected on user profile slide.

Your account will be listed on outlook Account’s settings once steps are completed.

The mail accounts other than Gmail/Google App can be configured using the normal way of configuring outlook.
